Bible Translation Licenses

PreachPal bundles public-domain Bible translations for offline use and offers additional public-domain and open-license translations via API.Bible for Premium subscribers. This page documents the licenses and attributions for each.

Bundled Public-Domain Translations

The following translations are bundled with PreachPal and available to all users, completely offline:

King James Version (KJV)

  • Language: English
  • Status: Public domain. No copyright restrictions.
  • Published: Originally published 1611
  • Use: Freely distributed worldwide

Reina-Valera 1909 (RVR1909)

  • Language: Spanish
  • Status: Public domain. Originally published 1909; copyright expired.
  • Published: 1909 (Antigua Versión)

Planned Additions (post-launch)

The following public-domain translations are prepared for future releases:

  • Louis Segond 1910 — French. Public domain. Original translation by Louis Segond.
  • Almeida (public-domain edition) — Portuguese. Public domain. Original translation by João Ferreira de Almeida.
  • Korean Revised Version (개역한글판, KRV 1961) — Korean. Public domain. Korean Bible Society.

Additional Translations via API.Bible (Premium)

PreachPal Premium subscribers can access additional Bible translations through API.Bible. Every one is public domain or openly licensed, served at no extra cost:

  • English — Berean Standard Bible (BSB), World English Bible (WEB), Free Bible Version (FBV), American Standard Version (ASV), and the Geneva Bible (GNV).
  • Spanish — Palabra de Dios para Ti (PDT), La Biblia en Español Sencillo (BES), Versión Biblia Libre (VBL), and Nueva Biblia Viva (NBV).

Each version’s required attribution is shown inside the app when you select it, and this page will be updated as more translations are added.

API.Bible Attribution

Additional Bible translations for Premium subscribers are provided via API.Bible, an initiative of the American Bible Society.
